In the third slot of the cart machine is my last show on JML.
Following my show I finished loading up a Uhaul Trailer and Sunday morning I started my drive to California so I never got to hear Tim Nixon's first show and would appreciate anyone who has an aircheck to contribute it to this collection.
Some notes on the last show: The song selections and introductions where done with a bit of special emphasis. At six minutes in I played a Captain and Tennille song and added some 'phasing ' or as it was also known 'flanging' effect. Today there are software plug-ins that will do that but back then I did it the old fashioned way. It was something I saw Rob Hazelton do and of course I copied. The old fashioned way was to play two copies of the record at the same time and then drag your finger on one turntable to cause an out of phase condition and then drag a finger on the other turntable bringing the two records back in phase and then back out of phase. I even used that trick while doing high school dances which really sounded like the sound was swirling around the gymnasium.
So where does an ex-JML jock go? Ever hear of Tulare? No one else has heard of it either nor the people that go there. Next month I'll share an aircheck from KCOK Tulare, California.
